Candidates for 9th Judicial District Supreme Court Judges
Sherri Eisenpress
Judge Sherri Eisenpress has presided for over 10 years in Rockland County Family Court and is an acting Supreme Court Justice. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy at NYU, and received her JD degree from New York Law School, where she taught as an adjunct professor for 11 years. She has been active on the boards of Explore Schools, Youth at Risk and the LGBTQ+ Community Center.
Anne Minihan
Judge Anne Minihan is a Westchester Native, has served as Assistant DA, Principal Court Attorney, a Village Justice, and currently as the Administrative Judge of the 9th Judicial District.
She has dedicated her career to public service and is now running for NYS Supreme Court.
David Zuckerman
Judge David Zuckerman began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, and served for fifteen years as Town Prosecutor for the Town of New Castle. For the past ten years, he has proudly presided in New York State Supreme Court, Westchester County Court, Westchester County Family Court and Westchester County Surrogate’s Court. In Rockland County, he presided in New York State Supreme Court and County Court. He has also served as a County Court Judge in Putnam and Dutchess Counties. He previously presided in the City Courts in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains and Peekskill, as well as the Town Court in Yorktown. Judge Zuckerman is a lifelong Democrat. In addition to winning three judicial elections as a Democrat, he served as a Democratic Party District Leader and Delegate to the Democratic Party Supreme Court Convention for the 9th Judicial District. A graduate of Binghamton with a law degree from Boston University Law School, as a 33-year Westchester County resident, he has served his community as a member of the Westchester County Domestic Violence Council and a volunteer EMT for the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Judge Zuckerman has shown a strong focus on youth, as chair of the New Castle Drug Abuse Prevention Council, coach of the Horace Greeley High School Mock Trial Team, and Adjunct Professor, teaching business law at Mercy College.
Keri A. Fiore
Judge Keri Fiore currently serves as a Support Magistrate in Yonkers Family Court, presiding over child support, spousal support and paternity matters. She has nearly a decade of experience working for judges in Supreme Court and Family Court.
Amy Puerto
Amy Puerto been a practicing attorney in the 9th Judicial District since 2000. As a prosecutor in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, she litigated a variety of criminal cases in Westchester County Court, many to verdict after trial. A significant number of those cases were prosecutions to protect victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and sex crimes.
As a court attorney for Judge Helen M. Blackwood, she has gained experience under only judge in Westchester County to be elected to the County Court, but also be designated as an Acting Family Court Judge, Supreme Court Justice, and Surrogate’s Court Judge.
Elena Goldberg-Velazquez
Judge Elena Goldberg-Velazquez was elected to the Bench at Yonkers City Court in 2019. Previously, she worked at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division for nearly a decade. She is a graduate of CUNY School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the New York City Law Review. She is active in the legal community having served as the President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association (“PRBA”), Treasurer of the PRBA, Chair of the Women’s Committee and Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee, and is presently a member of the Latino Judges’ Association, New York State Bar Association and the Yonkers Lawyers Association. Over the years Judge Goldberg-Velazquez has received numerous awards for her commitment to the community having founded and served as president of her local neighborhood association, the Tuckloc Neighborhood Association.
David Squirrell
David Squirrell has represented hundreds of clients, both plaintiffs and defendants, in the New York State Supreme Court in every county in the Ninth Judicial District.
He began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in New York County and is currently the Chief Attorney and Executive Director of the Putnam County Legal Aid Society. He also served as an elected Trustee in Village/Town of Mount Kisco.
He has been entrusted with tremendous responsibilities by individuals, business and governmental entities. This wealth of varied public and private court room experience makes him uniquely qualified to serve as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court.
