Sylke Jackson
Candidate for Clarkstown Council Ward 2
Sylke Jackson is a long-time (46 years!) resident of Rockland County and is an advocate for environmental protection and preservation of green space, reduction of government waste and taxes, public transportation, pedestrian and bike infrastructure, and healthy, safe neighborhoods. She helped attain public transportation and a pedestrian path on the Tappan Zee bridge, led her union committee to the creation of a new position to help members access their benefits, halted the spraying of harmful chemicals in Clarkstown, founded a community native plants pollinator garden in Central Nyack, and lobbied with state congressional representatives on clean energy tax credits, immigration, and peace in the Middle East. She served on the boards of Rockland's Helping Hands for the Homeless for 10 years and Creative Response to Conflict for 8 years. She loves Clarkstown and is looking forward to serving this community as a town council member.
